The Cruise Deal Calendar
January-March (Wave Season): The biggest promotions of the year. Cruise lines release summer and fall itineraries with launch pricing. Onboard credit, free drink packages, and reduced deposits are common. This is the best time to book.
April-May: Wave season deals wind down. Prices for summer sailings firm up. Good time to book fall and winter cruises at early pricing.
June-August: Peak pricing for current summer sailings. But excellent last-minute deals on fall sailings (September-November) as lines push to fill ships.
September-October: Great time to book winter Caribbean cruises. Lines are filling January-March ships and offer promotions.
November-December: Last-minute holiday cruise deals appear. Excellent time to book next year's summer sailings before Wave Season demand drives prices up.
Price Drop Strategy
Book early for the best cabin selection, then monitor prices. Many cruise lines offer price protection — if the price drops after you book, they match it or offer onboard credit. Use a travel agent who monitors prices automatically.
The Best Value Sweet Spot
The absolute best value is booking a shoulder-season cruise (April-May or September-October in the Mediterranean) during Wave Season (January-March). You get the lowest base price plus the best promotional offers.
