Ushuaia Travel Guide

Ushuaia is the world's southernmost city — a frontier town at the End of the World, perched between the Andes and the Beagle Channel. Gateway to Antarctica and Tierra del Fuego National Park.

How Do You Get Around?

Walk into town (5 min). Taxi to Tierra del Fuego NP (12km). Beagle Channel tours from the harbour.

What Can You Do in 6 Hours?

  1. Beagle Channel tour — 3-4 hour boat trip past sea lions, penguins (seasonal), cormorants, and the lighthouse.

  2. Tierra del Fuego NP — Sub-Antarctic forest, peat bogs, and the End of the Panamerican Highway sign. Entry 4,900 ARS.

  3. End of the World Museum — Maritime history, indigenous culture, and Antarctic exploration. In town.

  4. Town walk — End of the World post office, souvenir shops, and panoramic views from the harbour.

Where Should You Eat?

King crab (centolla): Ushuaia's signature — giant king crab from the Beagle Channel. Grilled, in empanadas, or as a chowder.

Lamb: Patagonian lamb roasted on a cross over an open fire (asado al palo).

Worth Exploring Independently?

Town is walkable. Beagle Channel tours bookable at the harbour. Tierra del Fuego requires transport — taxi or ship excursion.
