Bermuda Travel Guide

Bermuda sits 1,000km off the US East Coast — pink sand beaches, pastel houses, British traditions, and the clearest water in the Atlantic. A classic cruise destination with unique character.

How Do You Get to the Beaches?

Ships dock at the Royal Naval Dockyard. Take the ferry or bus with a day pass ($19). Horseshoe Bay is 30 min by bus 7.

What Can You Do in 6 Hours?

  1. Horseshoe Bay Beach — Iconic pink sand beach. Crystal-clear water and dramatic rock formations. Bus 7 from Dockyard.

  2. Royal Naval Dockyard — Restored British naval base with the National Museum, Clocktower Mall, and craft market.

  3. Hamilton — Bermuda's tiny capital. Front Street shops and harbour. Ferry from Dockyard (20 min).

  4. Church Bay snorkelling — Bermuda's best shore snorkelling. Colourful reef fish right off the beach.

Where Should You Eat?

Fish chowder: Rich tomato-based fish soup with sherry pepper sauce and black rum. The island's signature dish.

Fish sandwich: Fried fish on raisin bread with coleslaw and tartar sauce. Art Mel's in Hamilton is legendary.

Rum swizzle: Bermuda's national cocktail at the Swizzle Inn.

Is Bermuda Worth Exploring Independently?

The bus and ferry system makes it easy. Ship excursions are mostly beach transfers — cheaper to do yourself with the day pass.
