Why You Want Data at Port

Mobile data at port gives you maps, transit information, restaurant reviews, and real-time communication. Without it, you rely on offline downloads and port Wi-Fi. With it, navigation and exploration become effortless.

Your Options

  • eSIM (best for most travelers): Buy a digital SIM before your trip. Providers like Airalo, Holafly, and Nomad offer European or regional eSIMs for 10-30 USD for a week. Works in most modern phones. No physical card needed.

  • Local SIM cards: Buy at the port or in town. Cheapest per-GB option but requires an unlocked phone and time to set up at each country.

  • International roaming: Convenient but expensive. Check your carrier's international plan. Some offer day passes for 5-10 USD/day.

  • Port Wi-Fi: Free at many cafes and restaurants. Unreliable but fine for quick tasks. Not suitable for navigation.

EU Roaming Advantage

Within the EU, a single European SIM or eSIM works across all member countries at no extra cost. This means one eSIM covers Italy, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, and Portugal — perfect for Mediterranean cruises.

Remember: Lucy works fully offline with downloaded language packs. Even without data, you can translate menus and signs. But data makes maps and real-time information available too.
