The Lucy Team

We're the team behind Ask Lucy — travellers, food lovers, and language enthusiasts building an AI companion that helps you explore the world with confidence.

Before You Sail: The 5-Minute Setup

  1. Download Lucy from the App Store or Google Play. Create your account.

  2. Set your dietary profile. Enter any food allergies, intolerances, or dietary preferences. Lucy will flag these on every menu you photograph.

  3. Download language packs for every country on your itinerary. This enables offline translation when you do not have Wi-Fi or data at port.

  4. Test with a practice photo. Take a photo of a menu (any language) to see how Lucy works. Get comfortable with the flow before you need it.

  5. Enable location services. This helps Lucy provide culturally relevant context for the country you are in.

At Each Port of Call

When you arrive at a port, Lucy is ready to go. Photograph any menu, sign, or document and get an instant translation with context. No Wi-Fi needed if you downloaded the language pack.

Tips for Cruise Travelers

  • Download all language packs while connected to your home Wi-Fi, not on the ship (ship Wi-Fi is expensive).

  • Keep your phone charged — translation uses camera and processing power.

  • Use Lucy at the ship's specialty restaurants too — some have menus in the local language for authenticity.

  • Share Lucy with travel companions. One person can photograph and translate for the group.
