Getting from the Port to the Food
Bangkok's cruise terminal at Laem Chabang is about 120km from central Bangkok. Most cruise lines offer shuttle buses. A private driver for the day costs about 2,000-3,000 baht. Once in Bangkok, the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway get you anywhere quickly.
The Best Street Food Areas
Yaowarat (Chinatown) — The best street food area in Bangkok. Grilled seafood, pad thai, and mango sticky rice.
Or Tor Kor Market — Voted one of the world's best fresh markets. Clean, organized, with prepared food stalls.
Khao San Road area — Tourist-oriented but excellent pad thai, spring rolls, and fruit shakes.
Must-Try Bangkok Street Food
Pad Thai — Best from a street wok. Look for stalls with a line of locals.
Mango sticky rice — Sweet sticky rice with fresh mango and coconut cream.
Som tam — Green papaya salad. Ask for "mai pet" if you want it mild.
Moo ping — Sweet marinated pork skewers available on nearly every corner in the morning.
